Frequently asked questions about experiencing nature in our kindergarten
What nature courses are there?
In our educational nature courses, we offer an exciting mix of activities where children can discover and explore nature in a playful way. The focus here is not only on learning, but above all on marveling at and experiencing the great natural world! We create a close connection between people and nature in order to give children a deep understanding of their environment from an early age.
A popular course is our upcycling project with beeswax cloths. Here, little environmentalists can create something new with their own hands – and all in harmony with nature! Using simple materials and the important role of the bee as an environmental actor, the children learn how to act sustainably.
The exciting topic of weather is not neglected either: in our water cycle course, the “Mini Explorers” playfully discover how rain is formed, why it rains and how the weather is connected. Experiments and observations encourage the children to do their own research and experience the natural sciences at first hand.
For plant lovers, we offer courses on carnivorous plants and plant pests, where children can learn more about the fascinating and often unexplored aspects of nature. How do Venus flytraps catch their prey? Why are aphids a problem for gardens? This is discovered here in an exciting way!
We offer regularly changing courses so that there is something suitable for every child – from mini botanists to little explorers who are interested in the secrets of nature. This ensures that the experience of nature is always varied, exciting and educational. The goal: a close connection to nature that motivates children to think sustainably and behave in an environmentally conscious manner.
How does nature experience take place in kindergarten?
In kindergarten, we offer many exciting opportunities to experience nature in a practical and playful way. Environmental education takes place playfully in the background by integrating various games and excursions into the daycare center’s daily routine. We are always trying out new things, for example:
Sowing and caring for plants: The children create small beds, plant seeds and observe how flowers or vegetables grow from them. In doing so, they learn to take responsibility and understand nature.
Collecting natural materials: The children collect leaves, stones, branches and other natural treasures on walks in the woods and meadows. These are used for creative craft projects or in free play. They also learn the names of individual insects and plants.
Building an insect hotel: Together we create an insect hotel that shows the children how they can create a habitat for small animals and observe them up close.
Exploring weather phenomena: Children playfully explore the elements and learn how clouds and rain are formed.
Creating compost: The children experience how kitchen waste is turned into valuable compost that serves as fertilizer for the garden. In the process, they learn about the cycle of nature.
Field, forest and meadow cooking: the children prepare simple dishes with collected herbs and edible plants and learn what treasures nature has to offer.
Discovering animal tracks: On walks, we look for animal tracks in the mud or snow and try to find out which animals live nearby.
Through these practical nature experiences, the children experience the environment up close and develop a deep understanding and appreciation for nature. Our daycare center conveys a closeness to nature in a playful way so that each child experiences individually how valuable nature is.

Why should my child gain experience of nature at an early age?
It is essential that children experience nature from a young age, as this has a huge impact on their development. When they actively discover nature, they not only learn how beautiful and diverse the world around them is, but also how to treat it with respect.
Children who spend a lot of time in nature understand better how everything is connected. They learn to take responsibility and appreciate nature as part of their lives. In addition, spending time in the fresh air is good for their physical health – they can move freely and enjoy the fresh air.
On excursions into nature, children can sharpen their senses, experience the different seasons and observe how plants and animals change. Not only do they discover nature, they also give free rein to their creativity and imagination. They focus their attention on their surroundings and let nature have an effect on them. This creates images in their minds and stimulates their imagination.
Experiencing nature helps children to develop emotionally and mentally. They learn to grasp new environments and are supported in their curiosity and desire to discover. This is why it is so important that children can experience the effects of nature in all its vitality.
With more experiences in nature, awareness of the environment also grows. Children develop a deeper relationship with nature and these experiences have positive effects on their development. They learn to appreciate plants, animals and natural resources, which helps them to develop respectful and sustainable behavior.

How does spending time in nature encourage my children’s creativity?
Spending time in nature is a true creativity laboratory for children! In our nature experience courses, children can let their imaginations run wild as they play and explore with natural materials. Whether collecting leaves, stones or branches, building insect hotels or creating works of art from natural materials – every activity stimulates creativity and challenges the children to develop and implement new ideas.
In our courses, children not only learn how to interact with nature, but also how to turn everyday things into creative projects. Upcycling packaging or crafting with natural materials strengthens their problem-solving skills and their ability to recognize new connections. Not only are they being creative, but they are also learning to take responsibility for nature and appreciate the diversity of the environment – a perfect foundation for a sustainable and creative future!
What positive effects does closeness to nature have on later development?
Nature has a huge impact on children’s development that goes far beyond the fun of playing. When children regularly spend time outside, it promotes their physical health – whether it’s climbing, running or simply romping around. This strengthens their coordination and makes them more agile.
But it’s not just about exercise. Nature also trains the senses. Children learn to perceive the world around them more closely – be it the rustling of leaves, the barking of a dog or examining plants. All of this encourages their perception and stimulates their creativity. They develop the ability to question things and find solutions.
Children also gain a better understanding of environmental protection and the value of natural resources through contact with nature. They learn to take responsibility and treat the world with care. And not to forget: Spending time outdoors strengthens their emotional well-being. Children who spend a lot of time in nature are often more relaxed, more self-confident and better able to deal with challenges. All these positive effects accompany them not only in childhood, but also in later life.
How can children strengthen their social skills by experiencing nature?
Experiencing nature offers children many great opportunities to strengthen their social skills. When they play together in nature, for example when observing plant pests or collecting natural materials for craft projects, they have to coordinate and work together. This encourages teamwork and helps them to share their ideas and find solutions together.
In team games such as treasure hunts or nature trails, the children learn to look out for each other, listen to each other and achieve goals together. They realize how important it is to take responsibility and help others. These experiences in nature create a strong community in which the children support and respect each other.
Through various activities in nature, they not only develop their social skills, but also greater confidence in themselves and in their fellow human beings. This makes time spent in nature a valuable opportunity to build friendships and experience team spirit.
